History seems to be repeating itself. Less than a month after rejecting the Duplomb law on agriculture and sending it directly to the joint committee, Macron's MPs decided on Sunday, June 15, to vote again against a text they are supposed to defend: the bill to simplify economic life .

During the formal vote scheduled for the National Assembly on Tuesday 17th in the late afternoon, they are expected to oppose the adoption of this text, initially conceived by Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire and since adopted by the governments of Michel Barnier and then François Bayrou. Given the weight of the Macronist group in the Assembly (94 deputies), and the already declared hostility of the left, the bill should logically be rejected.

It won't necessarily be abandoned, however. With the text already adopted in the Senate, and the government having declared an emergency, the bill is expected to be examined by a joint committee, but likely only in September, at least if nothing happens by then. During this closed-door meeting, MPs and senators will attempt to come up with a common version of a text that is currently highly divisive.
